The project

Yabara is a recruitment platform designed for the Ivorian market. It connects talent looking for opportunities with companies that are hiring, while bringing the different stages of recruitment together in a single application.

The product does more than display job listings. Candidates have a dedicated professional space where they can build their profile, discover opportunities, apply and track their progress. Companies can publish job listings, search for talent directly and manage their recruitment. An admin area completes the platform, allowing its activity to be overseen.

A journey designed around recruitment

Yabara is built around three main user groups, each with distinct needs and journeys:

  • talent, who build their profiles, search for opportunities and track their applications;
  • companies, who publish job listings, search for profiles and manage their recruitment;
  • admins, who oversee the platform’s activity and handle items that require review.

These three spaces support different uses, but share the same business data and form part of a single recruitment journey.

For talent

The candidate journey starts with discovering opportunities. Users can browse available job listings, refine their search, then open a listing to review its details before applying.

The goal was to keep the journey simple: search → understand → apply → track.

Applying is built into the product rather than sending talent through a series of external tools. This means the journey can use information already in their profile and provide a continuous experience.

A profile at the centre of the experience

Yabara does not treat candidates as nothing more than an email address attached to a CV. Their personal space brings together the information they need to build their professional identity: experience, education, skills, languages and other information useful for recruitment.

This profile is used for applications and also allows companies to discover talent who match their needs directly.

A progression and rewards system also complements the experience, encouraging users to enrich their profile and regularly use the platform’s features.

For companies

The company experience addresses a different challenge: finding, attracting and organising candidates.

A dedicated dashboard provides access to key recruiting information and actions. Companies can then publish their own opportunities, receive applications or search the talent pool themselves.

Not relying solely on incoming applications

A company may not want to wait for the right profile to happen upon its listing. Yabara therefore also allows recruiters to search directly for talent on the platform.

This makes the relationship two-way: a talent can find a company, but a company can also find a talent.

Managing recruitment as a real workflow

As the number of applications grows, a simple list quickly reaches its limits. The process was therefore designed as a genuine business workflow rather than a collection of standalone statuses.

A Kanban view lets companies see candidates and move them through the different recruitment stages. Recruiters can therefore see the state of their pipeline at a glance.

A dedicated administration layer

A platform that connects several groups also needs tools to monitor what is happening on it.

The administration team therefore has its own environment to get an overview of activity and handle items that require human intervention.

A full-stack application

Yabara is built on a full-stack architecture that clearly separates the interface from the server logic. The frontend is built with React and Vite, while the API runs on Express and a MySQL database.

The project therefore covers the design of user journeys and interfaces as well as data modelling, business rules, authentication and communication with the backend.

My contribution to the project

I took over an existing project with the aim of improving its data consistency, user experience and the efficiency of its various user journeys.

Some of the work involved proposing and integrating new features, as well as reworking several UI elements to make information easier to read and actions quicker to perform. This included adding summary cards, charts and visual indicators, and generally improving the information hierarchy.

On the talent side, several aspects of the recruitment journey were reworked, including job cards, the job details page and how information is presented before applying.

On the company side, the work focused in particular on filtering and making use of entered data, improving recruitment tracking, implementing a rewards system, and managing the payment required to activate a client account.

Finally, the administration interface was extensively reworked to provide a more comprehensive view of the platform, with more data, statistics, charts and management tools. The various actions were also redesigned to be more intuitive, faster and better suited to everyday use.
